I’ve been told I need a flue liner installing before my stove is involved…is that right?
As part of the service all necessary safety checks will be carried out before your new stove is installed. This will include smoke testing your existing chimney to ensure that no smoke is leaking into loft spaces and bedrooms. It is only if your chimney fails a smoke test that you will need to have a flue liner installed. As part of our service Bartons are happy to advise and install where necessary.
Great, how do I proceed to the next stage and book a fitting date?
Our surveyor will provide you with a quotation for the proposed work. If you are happy to proceed simply pay a deposit of 20% and our team will take care of the rest.
Sit back and Relax…
One of our ‘in house’ Installation teams will visit your home and install your stove and surround without further ‘ado’.
Will there be any mess?
All our engineers are ‘house trained’. All armed with dustsheets, hoovers and plastic runners we will keep the fuss down to an absolute minimum… We’ll even take any old stove and surround, and rubbish away for you!
What can I burn on my stove?
Depending where you live will depend what you can burn. It is common courtesy to your neighbours and environment to always be sensible in what you burn. Seasoned wood and smokeless fuel is always advised for the best possible results.
Certain areas of England are classed as ‘Smokeless Zones’. If your home is situated in one of these areas you are obliged to have a DEFRA approved Smoke Exempt (SE) stove. Failure to do so will place you in contravention of building regulations. If in doubt please contact your local authority or one of our team for further guidance.
Is that it?
Customers return to Bartons year on year to take advantage of our attractive service and maintenance plans. For a small charge our service department will provide a chimney sweep and thorough service of your stove to ensure it remain in tip top condition. Depending on what you burn this is recommended at least every 12 months to avoid the risk of a chimney fire or carbon monoxide poisoning.
